The Saskatchewan Provincial Entrepreneurship Program gives applicants and their families the opportunity to obtain permanent Canadian residency through the creation of a business or the purchase of an existing business in the province of Saskatchewan.
About the province of Saskatchewan
The province of Saskatchewan, which is located in the west of Canada, is the only province that does not have a natural border. The area of this province is 651,900 square kilometers, 10% of which includes fresh water rivers and lakes.
The province of Saskatchewan is bordered by Alberta in the west, Northwest Territories in the north, Manitoba in the east, and Montana and North Dakota in the south. According to the statistics provided in 2021, the population of this province is estimated to be 1,132,505, and the residents of this province live mainly in the southern half. Meanwhile, half of Saskatchewan’s population lives in the province’s largest city, Saskatoon, or in its center, which is the city of Regina.

The Saskatchewan Provincial Entrepreneurship Program is divided into 3 general categories:

Requirements to apply through the Saskatchewan Entrepreneurship Program
- Having a minimum asset of 500,000 Canadian dollars (the exchange rate will be considered based on the government exchange rate)
- Minimum investment of 300 thousand Canadian dollars in Saskatoon and Regina and 200 thousand Canadian dollars in other cities of the province.
- Having at least 3 years of active business management experience and entrepreneurship in the last 10 years
Advantages of this method:
- Obtaining Canadian permanent residence approximately six months after making the investment
- Obtaining permanent residence for spouse and dependent children under 19 years old
- No need to pay a deposit
Conditions for obtaining a provincial invitation
After being selected by the province of Saskatchewan to receive an invitation for permanent residence in Canada, the applicant must meet the following conditions:
- Investment of at least 300,000 Canadian dollars in two cities, Regina or Saskatoon, or at least 200,000 Canadian dollars in other parts of Saskatchewan
- Own at least 33% of the business in Saskatchewan or invest more than CAD 1 million
- Having an active managerial role in the business on a daily and continuous basis
- Creation of at least 2 job opportunities for citizens or residents of the province of
- Saskatchewan
How to process the case:
- Create an online profile and send a request to act for the province – Expression of Interest
- At this stage, if the minimum points and the necessary conditions are obtained, the applicants enter the so-called candidate pool and are ranked according to the points obtained.
- Waiting to receive the Invitation to Apply letter
- At this stage, applicants should apply for a work visa to enter Canada and start a business.
- Waiting to receive the acceptance letter of the province (Nomination Letter)
- At this stage, six months after starting the business and implementing all the conditions related to the business in Saskatchewan based on the business plan provided, you can send your request for the issuance of a letter of introduction for the Canadian permanent residence file.
- Sending the Canadian permanent residence application file after receiving the Nomination Letter
Saskatchewan Entrepreneurship Program for International Graduates
Through this program you and your family can start, buy or partner in a business in Saskatchewan and actively participate in its management while living in Saskatchewan.
Conditions of action
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Hold a full-time post-secondary degree or diploma of at least two years from an eligible Saskatchewan institution.
- Have a valid post-graduation work permit with at least 24 months remaining.
Lived in Saskatchewan during your academic program (no distance learning or accelerated academic programs are eligible). - Have a minimum level of English or French CLB7
Saskatchewan Entrepreneurship Program for Farm Owners and Managers
If you have experience in the field of agriculture and farming and you want to start or buy agricultural land in this province, this program is the best way for you.
Conditions of action
- Having a minimum movable and immovable property of 500 thousand Canadian dollars
- Investment of at least 150 thousand Canadian dollars
- Conducting a research and exploratory trip before submitting the application for at least ten working days
- Payment of a deposit of 75 thousand Canadian dollars as a guarantee
- Obtaining at least 55 points in the scoring table
- Having enough experience and knowledge in the field of farming and agriculture, which will be checked in the interview.
Saskatchewan Entrepreneurship Program for Young Farmers
This program is for young farmers who are less than 40 years old. The conditions for this program are as follows:
- Having a minimum movable and immovable property of 300 thousand Canadian dollars
- Age less than 40 years
- Having at least 3 years of experience and sufficient knowledge in the field of agriculture and farming
- Presenting the complete proposal of the desired plan in the form of a business project
